• I was taking an online course and thought I was making slow but appropriate progress. Because this book had full sentences and phrases that I would be using in travel and real life situations, I decided to buy it. For $2.00, this book has taught me more in a week than I learned in 8 weeks with Duolingo. Now instead of learning to say things such as, "My dog likes to drink water," and "The penguins don't like my sister's blue dress," I can actually order in restaurants, ask directions, shop, ask for help, etc. To be useful, you will either have to carry the book around with you, or make flashcards and memorize the questions and answers. I recommend both. The book also has pronounciation guides to improve your accent. If you are interested in conversation rather than grammar, you will really be pleased with this Dover edition.
• This is a very simple, handy resource for learning fundamental Spanish. I speak a couple languages and have dabbled in several others, and I'm of the personal opinion that the way to go is learning phrases. Learn them in their complete, conjugated, grammatically-accurate format (and, of course, learn how to correctly pronounce them). Do this, and you never again have to guess about that particular phrase - even if you don't yet understand the grammatical reasons why the sentence/phrase got that way. So, for one just beginning who wants some quick and easy phrases in a small booklet that fits nicely into your bag or even a cargo pocket, this is one work I'd recommend.
•  Easy Spanish Phrase Book teaches over 700 helpful Spanish phrases for everyday use. To be exact, the book teaches 705 Spanish phrases. I like this book so much that I have mentioned it in many of my reviews as one of my top 3 learning-Spanish resources. Although this book continues to be one of my top 3 learning-Spanish resources, I will explain later why I have decided to give it 4 stars instead of 5.
  
  The Spanish vocabulary words are divide by categories. You will find categories for
  
  - Numbers
  - Colors
  - Greetings
  - Eating & Drinking
  - The Weather
  - Sports and Exercise
  - And many other categories
  
  One thing that separates this book from many other Spanish books is that it includes Spanish vocabulary related to modern technology. There is a section called “Computers and Internet.” And that’s where you’ll find the Spanish words for
  
  - Keyboard
  - Computer
  - Laptop
  - Email
  - Website
  - Browser
  - and more
  
  This book also has a bonus section that covers Spanish grammar. In the bonus Spanish grammar section you’ll learn lots of Spanish adjectives, pronouns, verbs and verb tenses.
  
  Another major plus about this book is that it is so economically priced. Besides 1001 Most Useful Spanish Words, which was also written by Pablo Garcia Loaeza, this book is one of, if not, the most economically priced learning-Spanish book available on .
  
  But what I think you’ll like most about the Easy Spanish Phrase Book is the convenient size of the book. Since it is so small, it is really easy to carry. I can even put it my back pocket if I want. So if I am on vacation in Puerto Rico, Mexico or Spain, I’ll have easy access to more than 700 Spanish phrases for everyday use.
  
  I do have one criticism about this book that I want to share with readers. I own the “New Edition” of this book which was published in 2015 and has a subtitle of “Over 700 Phrases for Everyday Use.” I also own a copy of the previous edition which was published in 1994 and has a subtitle of “Over 770 Basic Phrases for Everyday Use.” So that means the “New Edition” teaches at least 70 phrases less than the previous edition of the book. I would expect that the “New Edition” would teach more phrases than the previous edition. Not less. And that is the reason why I have decided to give this book a 4-star rating instead of a 5 star rating.
  
  With that said, considering that the “New Edition” teaches Spanish vocabulary for modern technology, continues to be very economically priced and so conveniently sized, it therefore remains one of my top 3 learning-Spanish resources.
  
  In closing, I’ll leave you with the 3 learning-Spanish resources which are currently my favorites. (My list of favorites changes from time to time so you may want to check my list periodically. Updated 08-2018)
  
  1. Learn Beginner Spanish Lessons 1 to 5 from Both Original Version & New Version of Learning Spanish Like Crazy, Including Two Bonus Lessons from New Millennium Spanish What stands out most about this program is the style of teaching used. The teaching style is very reciprocal or mutually dependent on the instructor and the student. This allows the student to not only listen but also to participate. But what appeals to me the most is that there are two bonus audio lessons included from their New Millennium Beginner Spanish program which teaches Spanish vocabulary for social media, the Web, modern technology, life styles for this millennium. Such as, eating organic food, living abroad and working as a digital nomad, and working out at a cross-fit or MMA gym. Learn Beginner Spanish also works wonders for developing an authentic sounding accent.
  
  2. 501 Spanish Verbs, 8th edition (501 Verb Series). If you think you can accomplish fluency in Spanish as an adult without mastering conjugating Spanish verbs, you are only fooling yourself. This book is an absolute essential resource for learning how to conjugate Spanish verbs. It will show you how to conjugate every Spanish verb tense imaginable. The version I have also includes a bonus CD which teaches both regular verbs and irregular verbs.
  
  3. Learn Basic Spanish with Fast Lane Spanish Get in the Learning Spanish Fast Lane - Get In The Learning Spanish Fast Lane. This is from the same publisher that created Learn Beginner Spanish. What I love about this audio program besides the fact that they use the same teaching style found in Learn Beginner Spanish which includes native Spanish-speaking actors to help you get an authentic accent, this program does a great job of teaching Spanish pronouns and prepositions in a natural way. Most programs seem to skip over this topic and only focus on conjugating Spanish verbs. I am also impressed with Learn Basic Spanish's bonus package which allows you to attend a free, live, interactive monthly Webinar taught by a Spanish teacher from Colombia. I'll also add that this program is very affordable.

• I took three years of Spanish in high school, and am now in graduate school and have decided to pick Spanish back up again. This book is incredibly helpful and was in great condition. It is small for traveling and fits into a small bag or purse. It has incredibly useful words and phrases and is a great way to learn Spanish! I try and learn something new from it each day.

• I ordered this for my boyfriend, who works in music with a lot of Spanish-speakers. It is helping him learn, leaps and bounds, and the convenient size makes it handy for keeping in a pocket, so he can get it out while they are playing. The guys wanted to know if they could get the same thing, but for learning English!
• For the price, this really can't be beat. It is a little bit larger in terms of length and width than your usual travel language pocket guide, but it's very lightweight and I'm definitely planning to bring this with me on an upcoming trip.
  
  I don't speak Spanish, so I can't attest to the accuracy of the words/phrases/etc. but the topics covered in this book are what I was looking for, and the pronunciation guides are easy to use. I plan to supplement this book with some audio resources online, and between the two I expect I will be able to use at least a little of the native language on my vacation. Even simple phrases can really help open new doors.
  
  Unrelated to the actual item, (for the first time in my many years of buying from them) packed it poorly with another large heavy item so it bent during shipping, but after notifying them they promptly sent a replacement.

• A book that should be required reading for any boater. I didn't have any friends that could teach me how to sail and could not afford someone to teach me but believe it or not I learned (even thou through trial and error) how to sail just from the information in it. I'm not a race sailor but I've sailed the gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic so I guess one could say I'm an accomplished sailor.
• This is the third purchase I have made over time of this book. My previous copies were dog eared and falling apart from usage. It is very well written and informative. It has been considered "the book" for learning sailing. I have been away from the sport for a long time, and got the book as a refresher. It has served me well from the time I was a Sea Scout through Maine Maritime Academy and beyond. A recommended read for anyone interested in Sailing from a novice to a seasoned sailor. I seem to learn something every time I read it.
• Your book shelf has a hole in it if you don't have this title. It is a comprehensive book on the seamanship of mid-size sailing vessels. I say mid-size not to exclude larger and smaller boats. The book covers it all from some basic physics to fabrics. The only thing missing is getting wet. While there is some room for improvement, there isn't much room. If you take sailing seriously, you already have this one.
• Great introductory book on sailing. My wife and I are looking to get into sailing, and it has a good, basic start to understanding sailing. The writing is clear, and explains sailing jargon clearly. The one downside is that the pictures in the book didn't print well, being too dark and therefore hard to see what is being demonstrated in the pics. Otherwise, we are satisfied with the wealth of information in the book!
• I just got into sailing in the summer of 2014. This book has been indispensable in covering not only the basics, but many other more advanced topics that I've been curious to learn about. It will continue to be a solid reference point for me as I continue sailing in the coming years.
• Bought it for my son, I had the first edition. Found it to be what I consider, the authoritative source for written information when learning to sail!
• The price of the book was fairly expensive so the fact that my download did not include illustrations make this purchases totally worthless. It could be that The download went wrong. I would like to try again but as I’m offshore getting internet access is pretty sketchy. I have a hard copy of the book which is great. This without the illustrations. Not so much.
  
  UPDATE - I downloaded the book again and it came through with the illustrations.
• Definitely worth the read for the newer sailor. Not the first book you should read if you've never sailed, but once you know what a luffing sail means and the difference between a tack and a gybe you can start to appreciate a lot of what this book has to offer. It will help you understand how to take your sailing experience to a higher, more skilled level.

At the outbreak of the Second World War U.S.S. Quail was in the Philippines sweeping mines to provide access for American shipping to South Harbor, Corregidor.

Lieutenant Commander John Morrill and sixteen fellow sailors took a thirty-six-foot diesel boat nearly two thousand miles through Japanese controlled waters.

They moved mostly at night, with a homemade sextant, some salvaged charts, with little fresh water and food, but even despite these difficulties they eventually made their way to Darwin, Australia.

John Morrill was a Lieutenant Commander in the U.S. Navy. In June 1939 he became commanding officer of the minesweeper U.S.S. Quail. Pete Martin was a journalist and author. Their book South from Corregidor was first published in 1943. Pete Martin passed away in 1980 and John Morrill passed away in 1997.

• Let me start by saying this book is truly like no other book I have ever read on the topic of World War Two. It reads like something that should have been made into a movie starring Humphry Bogart great actor like Burt Lancaster.
  
  It is a wonderful, gritty read, about men who defy the odds and try to escape Corregidor as the Japanese accept the surrender of American forces in the Philippines. It shows their anger, concern and desire to escape what they saw as a disaster. They wanted to take their chances.
  
  And they did. They sank their primary ship and took off on a thirty foot half-open boat with the idea of finding Australia. However, in the haste to leave the area they managed to leave without maps and sextant. This is the story of how they survived, may have even thrived in some areas, and managed to do the impossible.
  
  Inside of this book you’ll read what it was like to take big risks. They hid from Japanese patrols, aircraft and even destroyers. They ate what they could find and may have even run into South Pacific cannibals in their quest to escape imprisonment by the Japanese.
  
  But I don’t want to spoil this adventure for you. So I won’t say more.
  
  I have two regrets in regards to this book. The first is simply finding this book so late in my studies. It’s a wonderful read. It’s a treasure like finding Etched in Purple One Soldier’s War in Europe by Frank Irgang. In fact, I think they were published within a year of each other about 1943.
  
  The other regret is I’ve not found a copy of the first edition, yet.
• With men and leadership like this we could not lose any war. Hero’s in action and escape, the boat and the distance traveled, mostly in enemy controlled waters, speak for the incredible tale of survival and leadership. But the details were even better with the daring of landing through dangerous surf to confront strange, possibly dangerous peoples, let alone Japanese troops or sympathizers ashore. To repair and keep afloat their small boat, to stay healthy and single purposed with skill, good will, and discipline speaks to the high moral purpose of these men and the accomplishment of all American men and women who won WWII. Many of these books, first hand accounts of the War, are not easy to read, regardless of the brave story because of the writing style. Most were not written by professional writers. I found this particular raw style fun to read. The vernacular and phrasing is pure American GI, determined, even cocky, streetwise and often very witty and entertaining. I only wish it were more detailed and longer. It’s one of the great group survival and war stories, and I’ve read them all. Up till now!
• Outstanding book and most excellent, (and pleasurable), to read. Truly a story within a story. This escape from the "rock" of the island of Corregidor, Republic of the Philippines, was written in December 1942 and printed in March 1943. The wording and vernacular magically transports the reader back in time. The author and Captain of the 36 foot diesel boat, (that escaped the wrath of the Japanese), Lieutenant Commander John Morrill, writes about one of his shipmates who's stammering problem is akin to that of the likes of the King of England. Morrill has a plethora of similar references to different movie stars and other notables of that timeline. He often refers to WWI as the World War, (apparently WWII didn't have it's moniker when John wrote about his odyssey).
  
  The heroics of this 18 man crew and how they jelled as a team is inspirational. Their 31 day, 2000 mile escape to freedom is just downright phenomenal. John also talks about Longaskagawayan Point and his mission there, (before the fall of Bataan). He was told to put the kibosh on the Japanese by shelling them from the sea via his mine laying ship, the USS Quail. He mentions that the concrete poured for the pill boxes on that mountain coastline, (just west of the Island of Corregidor), were 2 - 5 years old. Meaning the Japanese had some serious plans that were in the works for years prior to the start of WWII. I have had the pleasure of visiting the "rock" when I was stationed at Clark AB, RPI, and remember quite distinctly that mountain side. The locals referred to it as "Kamayian Point". Kamay meaning hand in Tagalog. That side of the mountain jutted out from the Bataan peninsula in five fingers, (if you will), and was thought to be the ideal offensive position for the Japanese Imperial Army -- as it overlooked all shipping coming into and out of Manila Bay. It was reported that of the 400 Japanese defending that point, only 5 survived that deadly shelling, via the USS Quail and the big guns of Corregidor.
  
  A must read for the WWII enthusiast. Most of the 18 man crew that escaped went on to serve the US Navy for 20 - 30 years. John Morrill retired as a Rear Admiral. I'd rate this book six stars if I could. Grab yourself a copy and enjoy the boat ride to freedom! You won't regret it.

• This is more for someone who has confidence issues and hasn't found faith in a 'greater power' as she calls it. It doesn't address the mental game as a whole. I read it in about 30-minutes, so def not worth $13. While there was some tips that were notable, I was really looking for a way to train my brain to move as fast as a 15 second pattern, not teach myself to repeat my self worth and be grateful. I would have much rather been able to read this in a digital format. I wish I could return it, but feel I should not since I read it.

• This very thorough work of archaeology and history should forever establish Berenike as one of the critically important cities in world history. In the time of the Ptolemies and the Roman Empire, it was a major spice port, often THE major one, for the Greco-Roman world. It also handled all manner of goods, up to and including elephants. How the elephants got over the Sahara to the Nile Valley, and what they did for feed and water, remains unclear. As Roman writers kept emphasizing, the amount of spice imported from India and southeast Asia was enormous--an incredible trade. Sidebotham hints at the intellectual influences that must have come with the spices. Indeed, Greek, Near Eastern, and Indian philosophies and religions influenced each other enormously (as shown by Thomas McEvilley among others), and we should all be more aware of this.
• This volume chronicles the excavation of Berenike, an ancient Egyptian port and a gateway for Roman subjects making epic trade voyages into the Indian Ocean. The book is an intriguing read, an accessible account full of fascinating finds and careful analysis that are supported by plenty of detailed maps and a large bibliography that researchers new to the subject will find very useful.
  
  The modern site of ancient Berenike, on the shores of the Red Sea, is an abandoned desert ruin buried beneath centuries of sand and silt. But, since 1994 Professor Sidebotham has led an international team of researchers in the excavation of the port. The study presented in this book combines testimony from the sources with a range of extraordinary new archaeological discoveries - many of which will be little known, even to experts who have been following the topic.
  
  In thirteen detailed chapters, Professor Sidebotham traces the development of Berenike and its place within the `global economy' that developed two thousand years ago. Sidebotham offers many intriguing insights into life at the ancient port, from its foundation by the Ptolemaic rulers who built a harbour to bring in war elephants, to the rise and fall of Rome's vibrant international commerce. His enquiries reveal the conditions of travel along the busy caravan routes that linked Berenike to the Nile, the role of the Roman military in the Eastern Desert, the conduct of ancient business arrangements in Berenike, and even the presence of distant foreigners at the port. Other important chapters consider the network of trade ports that linked Berenike to ancient India and suggest what new archaeological evidence can reveal about the Roman ships that undertook these distant voyages. Finally, Professor Sidebotham introduces some new theories concerning the scale and value of this international commerce - ideas that have significant implications for the Roman economy and its revenues. I would definately recommend this book to anyone studying Roman commerce, or to those with an interest in ancient archaeology

• I feel bad but I found this book boring as a mom of a baby and toddler. I didn't think it was that funny. I actually skimmed through a few chapters. Sure I had a couple of chuckles and could relate ... but I just didn't vibe with the book. Sure they try to be funny but I always felt like the stories were missing something. Like they didn't go deep enough. I think this would be better for a first time mom perhaps who needs an easy and fast read.

I wish this book was around when I had my first child, would of saved me a lot of depression, anxiety, and questions! Nat's story is so similar to my own that it I thought she had been in my head and telling my story. Every woman should read this regardless if your a mom or not. • I have been following Cat & Nat for over a year now. They are the most hilarious, down-to-earth friends on the planet. They say it like it is and that is exactly what makes this book so relatable. Nat has said multiple times that the book is written to not be read straight through because it's almost impossible to sit and read an entire book uninterrupted. I was able to stop at the end of a chapter and pick it right back up when I had time. I attempted to be on of those "Perfect Moms" with my daughter and that stopped after her 1st birthday. This book tells you it's OK to fail, it's OK to not be that "Perfect Mom" and there are thousands of other Moms just like you. Follow them on social media for laughs all day long. This book was everything I thought it would be! Honestly considering this as a baby shower gift. “How come no one warned us about this? I’ve highlighted them. Yes that’s right. Highlighted!! Nat you said t best when you wrote “but I’ve also noticed something about dads in general- something I kind of admire. They are simply not programmed to feel parenting guilt of any kind” this is totally accurate. They do not dwell on anything! Mothers beat themselves up continuously. Always saying tomorrow will be better and striving for that. Shit were all on this crazy ride trying to figure it out we need so much LESS judgement!!!
• OMG this book was so amazing I read it in a day and a half I just couldn't put it down. Super easy to read and for someone who doesn't like to read the chapters are super short I think the longest one was like 4 to 5 pages long!! There is so many amazing things about this book I can't simply pick one but one of my favorites was the connection that Nat had with Olivia and how she helped her through something it's truly amazing!! Or when you both talk about how you met your husbands and how you were engaged Cat's story had me rolling I would have reacted the same way and I have been waiting for a book like this it's full of honesty and truth about all the things no one wants to talk about when you give birth to a baby or even after all that this book truly highlights what it's like to be a mom wife daughter sister and friend totally helped me be able to connect with Cat and Nat on a whole new level. It's soul barring and totally amazing it's something i will cherish forever!!

Written by two wonderful women who give us a glimpse in to the hectic, insane, infuriating but wonderful life as a mother.
